Maryam at Your Service :)

Firstly, feel free to call me Mary, Mer, or anything that rolls better off your tongue.

But who is Mer? Well, I’m first and foremost a researcher. I mostly spend my days navigating the wonderfully chaotic intersection of LLM Interpretability and Cognitively-Inspired AI. My overarching mission is to tame the neural “black-box” by weaving human-like structure and symbolic reasoning directly into the fabric of these systems.

My academic journey began with theoretical narrative algorithms before winding its way into rigorous concept-based interpretability. These days, you’ll find me tinkering with Neurosymbolic architectures, trying to piece together systems capable of genuine reasoning. Ultimately, I’m driven by the vision of AI that is verifiable, gracefully explainable, and deeply aligned with the way we think.

I must add, I do have a full life outside of academia as well. Writing, especially poetically and creatively, is my soul, and music is its language. If I’m not waist-deep inside a random book or the rabbit-hole of new articles, I’m probably obsessing over some design trying to reach aesthetic perfection to scratch an itch, or snapping endless photos of moments that tell stories.
